A Prior Art Search Journey: From Electric Vehicles to Toy Cars

As we embark on our journey in a search firm, we are initially taught some fundamental principles of the search process. One of these principles is to broadly interpret the claim in order to capture information that may not be immediately apparent.

However, there are times when we become fixated on a specific search term, causing us to overlook the fact that it may be limiting our search, regardless of how extensively and broadly we use other keywords.

One of our researchers found themselves trapped in this predicament during their work but eventually returned to the basics and discovered what made us a favorite among our clients – the ability to uncover highly relevant prior art.
